My stay at Citytel Inn was quite a mixed bag. The location is fantastic, just a 10 to 15-minute walk from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, which made exploring the city so much easier. However, the hotel itself was average; the room was clean but not very spacious, and the furniture felt quite worn. The staff had limited English skills, which led to some frustrating moments during check-in.
Rooms

The room was clean and met basic needs, with controllable air conditioning. However, it wasn't spacious, and I was disappointed that there were no English TV stations available.
Service

I encountered several issues with reservations and check-in, which took a long time. The staff were not very helpful when it came to addressing my concerns, especially when trying to resolve booking mismatches.
Location

The hotel’s location is its strongest point. I loved being within walking distance to major attractions like Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing. Plus, there was a bus stop right outside.
Dining
5.0
Dining options nearby were okay, mostly consisting of Chinese cuisine, which was not an issue for me. However, I would have appreciated more variety.
Facilities
7.0
Basic amenities were provided, such as a kettle and hairdryer. I appreciated the 24-hour hot shower and the complimentary bottled water. There was also a small business center for internet access.

My stay at Citytel Inn was quite mixed. On one hand, the location is excellent, being just a short walk from key sites like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. However, the rooms were dated and cleanliness could be improved. The breakfast offerings were limited and lacked variety, which was disappointing. Overall, you get what you pay for, and while the rate is low, I might opt for a slightly pricier option next time.
Rooms

The room was spacious and equipped with basic necessities, but it had a lingering smell that was hard to ignore. The beds were a bit hard for my liking.
Service

Service was hit or miss. While the staff were generally friendly, the concierge wasn’t helpful when I needed a cab, which added unnecessary stress to my departure.
Location

The location is fantastic, just about a 10-15 minute walk to major attractions like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, plus plenty of eateries nearby.
Dining

Breakfast options were mainly Chinese dishes, which got boring after a couple of days. There wasn't any Western food or drinks like coffee available.
Facilities

Housekeeping could have been better, as some details like toilet rolls weren’t managed well. However, the convenience store next door was quite handy.

Citytel Inn has a nice location close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, which is super convenient. However, the hotel itself felt a bit dated and the front desk staff didn’t seem very friendly or helpful. I had some issues with the hot water timing and it felt like the atmosphere could use some sprucing up.
Rooms
6.0
My room was adequate and clean, but it was pretty small and the furniture looked worn out. I appreciated that it was maintained daily, but the layout made it feel cramped.
Service

The staff at the front desk seemed uninterested and their English was pretty limited. I didn't feel like they were very helpful when I needed assistance.
Location

The location is fantastic; just a short walk to major attractions like Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing road. However, it’s not close to a subway station, which can be a hassle if you're hauling luggage.
Dining

Breakfast wasn’t included, but there was an in-house restaurant that offered a buffet for $20 per person. The food options nearby were plenty, which was a plus!
Facilities

The hotel provided basic facilities like wifi in the lobby, but I struggled to connect. They also offered housekeeping and assistance with tours and tickets.

My stay at Citytel Inn was enjoyable, primarily due to its unbeatable location near major attractions like the Forbidden City and Wangfujing. The rooms were spacious and kept clean, though I found the beds rather hard. The staff was helpful, but language barriers made communication tricky at times. Overall, I appreciated the value for the price, but some quirks, like occasional noise and cleanliness issues, held the experience back a bit.
Rooms

The rooms were surprisingly spacious and comfortably furnished, though I did notice the floors weren't as clean as I hoped. The hard beds were typical for China, but we were too tired each day to mind much.
Service

While some staff members were helpful and friendly, I found that the majority weren't very warm or welcoming. They were not particularly familiar with booking reservations, which made some interactions a bit frustrating.

The location is simply excellent. just a short walk from major sites like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It made getting around so easy, including accessing the subway and nearby restaurants.

The dining options left something to be desired for a Western palate. There were limited choices, mostly traditional Chinese foods. I wished for something like cereal or cold drinks instead.
Facilities

Facilities met basic needs, including daily housekeeping and some assistance with tours. but I think they could improve on the overall cleanliness and maintenance.

I had a pretty good stay at Citytel Inn overall. The location was a major plus, with easy access to major sights like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. However, I did run into some hiccups, like limited hot water at odd hours and some issues with internet connectivity, which could be annoying for some guests.
Rooms

My twin room was clean, comfortable, and had decent amenities. The bed was really cozy, though the shower cleanliness was only average. Water pressure was okay, but I faced issues with hot water in the middle of the night.
Service

The staff was helpful during check-in and even assisted me with ordering a taxi. However, I did run into a minor language barrier, and the internet access in the lobby was spotty at best.
Location

The hotel's location is great for sightseeing, just a short walk to major attractions. It's also near the lively Wangfujing area with lots of shops and eateries. Just be prepared for a bit of a trek to the subway station.
